Dear Colleagues:
I am writing to invite you to participate in a conference being sponsored by the Journal of Commonwealth Law and the Faculties of Law at the University of Capetown, Queens University, and the Université de Montréal.
The conference will explore a variety of questions, including, What norms govern matters relating to Property, Persons and Family, or Succession? Is there an Indigenous law of Contract or Tort, or a law relating to (commercial) associations?
The conference will offer perspectives from around the Commonwealth from different theoretical frames of reference or methodologies of inquiry.
The speakers include a wide range of scholars from around the Commonwealth and the United States who will present papers on land law, succession, economic development, and integrating indigenous law into private law systems.
The Conference Co-Chairs are Professor Andrew Hutchison of the University of Cape Town and Professor Frankie Young of Queens University (Ontario).
